Berner Receives Manufacturer of the Year Award

Berner International Corporation, leading manufacturer of air curtains/air doors receives Manufacturer of the Year award for small manufacturing facility in Pittsburgh, PA; with record growth Berner looks to compete with medium sized facilities in the upcoming years. The event was organized by the Pittsburgh Business Times held at the Westin Convention Center on December 3, 2003.

Berners' new $2.3 million production facility consisting of 61,250 square feet has enabled them to increase capacity with continual growth. The move from the previous facility of 20,000 square feet has accommodated increased business demand and subsequent operations.

"We have grown enormously in the new building. In 2001, we had 35 employees and now we have 52," Georgia Berner, president of Berner International Corporation stated. "We were able to fulfill my dream of purchasing new equipment to increase our capability so now we don't have to contract out certain parts of the process. This saves us a lot of time and money."

Berner has purchased new state of the art equipment including a CNC Sheet Metal Punching Center, CNC Multi-Access Press Brakes, and a Digital Controlled Hydraulic Shear. The new equipment enhances their capability of fabricating the parts required to manufacture products.

Ms. Berner attributes the company's success to the work of its employees and the management philosophy of open communication. "We value employees as individuals and people are hired for their fit," she said. "The fit is that every person is as demanding of themselves as anyone else is. We have an open policy of communication, teamwork and problem-solving. We're all committed to doing what is best for the company."

Berner International Corp. sells its air curtains/air doors globally to customers in a wide variety of industries, including foodservice, manufacturing, schools, and hospitalsvirtually any place that has an opening that needs protection from the outside elements.
