FAQs

Installation - Industrial Models

  1. How do you install air curtains?

All models may be wall mounted, vertically mounted or suspended on threaded rods from above. Wall mounting brackets and extension brackets are available to provide door clearance if required. Floor mounting brackets are also available for vertically mounted units (see VERTICALLY MOUNTING).

  2. What industrial units can be mounted to the wall and what is the maximum recommended length?

All industrial models may be wall mounted. Models with a 15" x 15" cabinet (AFA, AFB, ECA, ECB, FSA & FSB models) are limited to 12' or 144". This limitation provides for the stability of the units and prevents sagging in the center of the unit.

  3. The new AFA/AFB center support ring when used for tandem mounted units (horizontal above door) eliminating the need for intermediate support, what is the maximum length units that can be joined using the support bracket?

Two 9' units (18' total) is the maximum suggested length.

  4. What are the widths of the mounting flanges for all industrial and flystop (excluding FS) air curtains?

The mounting flanges are typically 1.5" on industrial models except for the EWD series. The EWD has a 2" mounting flange.

  5. What is the standard size mounting holes for all industrial models excluding EWD? What size rod will fit through the mounting hole?

Standard mounting holes are .5" and ½" threaded road is recommended. EWD mounting holes are 0.75".

Vertical Mounting

  1. What is the purpose of the center support ring for tandem mounted units stacked vertically on one or both sides of the door?

The center support mounting ring allows two units to be mounted vertically in proper alignment and provides the necessary support required to stabilize vertically mounted units. Limitations for AFA/AFB Models: 10' per unit for a total height of (20'), CFA/CFC Models: 12' per unit for a total height of 24'.

  2. On CFA/CFC series air curtains, is there anything different in construction when the equipment is vertically mounted on either side of a door opening?

Lifting lugs are welded on the top of the unit. Additional locking collars are installed to provide additional support for the fan shaft bearings.
